Week 2: Spontaneous & Creative

And here we are again! The end of week 2 feels good. In a way I’m very excited about the thought of reaching the end of week 7, but at the same time I’m enjoying each week very much and I now know that the 7 weeks are only the beginning of a new lifestyle, new me, new found passions, love and happiness.

The more I practice what I’ve shared with you in week 1 (click here to read the post), the more these practices become a part of my life. Even though I’m only 2 weeks in, I feel like I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’m so happy I decided to start on this journey. Something fundamental had to change in my life and I’m glad I’ve listened to my heart.

This week I followed my instincts more and worried less about external circumstances and things I cannot control. As long as I know I’ve done my best then I am happy. I no longer allow the outcome of a situation or other people’s perceptions to dictate my mood and thoughts. Acting upon my heart, I ended up going to a pottery studio, where I spent one of the afternoons this week painting on a plate. I can’t paint from a technical perspective, but I’ve enjoyed the process and the fact that I found a new way to let my creativity flow. I think it’s good to sometimes put ourselves in situations we don’t think we’d perform well in and not overthink, but allow the activity to teach us something new about ourselves.

As you know by now, during these 7 weeks I’m also becoming more aware of what foods I eat and how these impact on my body. In these two weeks I’ve learnt more about my body than ever before. I used to get bloated from pretty much every meal and now that I pay more attention to how I feel once I’ve eaten something, as well as to the portion size/calories I eat, I’ve managed to not only feel less bloated and more energetic, but also to lose 1.5 kg (3.3 pounds). My body feels stronger and is finally receiving the care it deserves. Making yourself a priority is not selfish, but proof that you care; ’cause if you don’t give a s**t about yourself, who will?! If you invest time in yourself and offer yourself more love, respect and understanding, then inevitably the world around you will reflect exactly that: love, appreciation and respect. You will move from guilt and regret, to being unapologetically yourself.

It can definitely be a terrifying journey when you first start sitting with yourself and truly listening to what your heart has to say. But then it becomes an amazing experience, where you gain insight into your deepest fears, dreams and hopes. Only then you can truly master yourself, when you stop running from yourself and start letting go and forgiving yourself and others. I like to listen to meditation or relaxing music as it allows me to become present and only care about that precise moment.

This week I’ve also worked on balancing my Sacral Chakra (as I’ve mentioned in the intro post – you can find it here), each of the 7 weeks has a chakra assigned to it. The Sacral Chakra focuses on emotional depths, passion, pleasure and curiosity. This is the centre for emotion, pleasure, sensuality, intimacy, and connection and it’s colour is orange. Some of the affirmations I’ve worked with this week in order to balance my sacral chakra are as follows.

  • I feel complete peace from within.
  • I love and enjoy my body.
  • I have healthy boundaries.
  • I am open to experiencing the present moment through my senses.
  • I am passionate.
  • I feel pleasure and abundance with every breath I take.
  • I nourish my body with healthy food and clean water.
  • I know how to take care of my needs.
  • I value and respect my body.

Also, as part of the 7 weeks I’m exercising more. This week I took 3 days off, but went running, did yoga and played tennis the rest of the days. I feel that my body is now asking for more activity so we’ll see how next week goes 🙂 Overall, this week has been spontaneous, creative and more calm. I’m definitely learning a lot from this experience and I feel it helps me not only be more positive in my daily life and interaction with others and look after my body more, but also discover who I truly am and what it is that makes my heart happy so that moving forward I will pursue more of those things.

This ‘7 weeks to a better me’ journey is a learning experience, both happy and terrifying, but I’m 100% in and totally enjoying it!

See you next Sunday on the blog and pretty much every day on Instagram (@lorenne_blau) xx thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions or any thoughts…
